I have always taken the approach that "you'll never get what you don't ask for." (Sort of a variation on "You'll miss 100% of the shots that you don't take.") I almost always give my principals/administrators a wish list. Sometimes they can afford just a little for basic supplies, but sometimes they can afford more for instruments. By using the phrase "wish list" I give my principals the option to say no without getting into a conflict, but it does give them the opportunity to say yes if they are so inclined. Good for you. I have used it to record the marching band playing a new parade piece and then burn it to disk for the color guard to practice. Boy do that like the CD better than the old cassette tapes that we used to use. I have recorded both of my concert bands during rehearsals and hooked it up to the band room stereo via the line out on the H2 and to the aux in on the stereo for review and evaluation of what we just played to see what we need to do to make the performance better. I have recorded the Jazz Ensemble playing the Christmas music for the Winter Concert and did a little cd that the kids could get a copy of for their own listening enjoyment over the holidays.
